Hi all. We are looking at planning our first trip abroad this year and the Jeungdstadion campsite in Leper (Ypres) looks very appealing. Has anyone stayed on this site. What do you get for the nightly fee..eg: hook-up, water, number or persons etc. Any other information would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Hi,

Yes we stayed there last March. Very good site, but it has no Facilities as such, No Bar, or Shop. Shower Block was very clean and heated, We were only ones on site so used the Shower block to dry our clothes overnight.

Receiption is only open in the morning, but does have auto Checkin.

It is about a 10 mins walk to the Menin gate, so you can't complain about location. There is an Aldi just outside the site, and a small retail park about 10 mins by car in the opposite direction.

Definately recommend going back. Our pitch was right next to the Sports track and the floodlights stayed on reasonable late, if I recall.

The site has barriers, and if you do not leave by 10am, they will charge you for an extra night.

I would definately go back, My parents will be using the site in August.

I hope this helps

Nathan

After Speaking to the Wife, She also confirms that there was water on each pitch. If you are on the Tent Field, there is no Electricity, nor can you take your car on the field.

The Pitches have Plastic Meshing in, which gives a Hardstanding effect, with Grass growing through it.

Many thanks to all who replied. It states on the prices page of their website, that it's 6 euro's! ( presumably thats per night). That seems incredibly cheap. Do you pay extra for hook up, etc).17

Many thanks for the info Tentz. Much appreciated17.....We have another question....although we have been caravanners now for about 5 years, this will be our first trip abroad and we have heard/read that some sites require an adapter/converter (polarity??) to enable us to use the standard 16 amp cable/plug that we use in the UK. Does anyone know if this necessary in Belgium (Camping Jeugstadion) in particular? 17

All the best....Happy holidays....

Rikita

Without complicating matters, you may need a converter from French to Blue international, and German,(Shuko), to Blue international. Any decent camping/caravanning shop should sell these.

Just search on here about reversed polarity.
We have a little plug in tester to check for reversed polarity, and a short connector that I have wired up to switch any "reverse" back to normal. Live to neutral and neutral to live. This has been double checked by an electrician.

If you are not confident in doing this, please do not do it.

Jim.

Jeugstadion uses the Standard "Commando" connection, and no adapter is required.

All the sites I have been to in Belgium/Luxembourg have never required an adapter.

In Fact the only Site that did need an Adapter was Lugano in Switzerland, and Camping Smok, in Krakow, which had Limited Commando sockets, but did have some Euro Plugs to connect with.

Saying that I do always take an adapter just in case.

I hope this helps

Cheers
Nathan
