Hi There Fellow Caravaners,

We have booked the tunnel and this year we are taking the caravan, having been to France for many years, this time we thought we would turn left and head to Belgium.

However, We haven't found any basic CL type sites. Do they exist. We don't have any kids so have no need for pools, bars or discos.

Do such sites exist.

Regards

Paul.

You are probably better off driving a couple more hours into Holland for better campsites, nearest part from Calais/Dunkirk is Zeeland Province on the coast but even the fairly basic campsites are never that cheap, most will be getting on for 20€pn at least.

What you do have in Holland are minicampings which as the name suggests are small basic campsites, not stopped on any myself but I have seen them around & might be what you seek. List here listed by province. just click on them to get the websites, plenty of research for you there. Few will be in English, if you use google chrome browser it has automatic Translate to view in English. There is no real need to book these, just turn up. Most Dutch speak good English so if you want to phone any you will probably find an English speaker.

Hi,

I agree will Tentz, you are probably better staying just over the border in Holland. We stayed at a 'MiniCamping' last Easter called 'De Catshoek', this was in the Vlaanderen area of Zeeland, that's the small parcel of Holland just over the border from mainland Belgium.

De Catshoek was a great site, cost was about 20 Euro, but the pitches were large, facilities were spotless, and the hosts very friendly. It's was about 35mins from Brugge if I remember correct.

The best website I found for finding MiniCampings was www.vekabo.nl/. It has details for hundreds. If you select 'Keine Campings' on the menu, then the area you want to search it shows you all of them on the map.

When we traveled round Zeeland we saw hundreds of MiniCampings and they all looked nice. The were usually attached to a farm house, and took about 12-20 vans.

The Dutch are even more into caravaning than the British, so it's a great country to go to as the large amount of competition keeps the site standards high. Drop me a line if you need any help, we're now planning our Holland trip for 2013!

Dan

Hi Paul and Sandra,
Happy to have been of help. It's definately a comprehensive website.

We found that the big campsites in Holland weren't much more expensive however, especially if you avoid July and early August.

Drop me a line if you need any help, I've researched Holland pretty well for our trips.
Dan
