I am hoping to book 12 days at the Yelloh Village site Parc De La Cote Sauvage for this August. It sounds a great site nestled between pine trees, a short walk from both a calm bay and a good surf beach with a nice pool and good amenities.
I have been to the area several times before and love the weather, the Beaches and the Surf but have not been to this site. I have tried to research it on the internet but there is very little information or reviews on it anywhere. Reading between the lines it appears that Yelloh Village has only just taken it over in the last year or so. Can anyone confirm this? It would explain the lack of any reviews on this site.
I did see that a few people on here booked to go last year. I'd love to hear from any of you and find out about your experiences. Also it doesn't mention it but are Charcoal BBQ's allowed as its in a wooded area and other similar places I've looked at sometimes have restrictions.
Finally we are looking to be there from the 09/08/13 to the 21/08/2013 so if anyone is going to be there feel free to say Hi. I don't need an excuse to open a bottle of red but its always nice to have a glass with good company.

Hi Ian, There are fifty six reviews of Cote Sauvage on a Dutch review website (but I'm sorry I don't think a link is allowed on this forum) and six of them are in English and a couple from 2012. The average score from all reviews is 7.4 but reviews are very mixed, and there are some pretty dire reviews too - giving the site low scores on the sanitary facilities in particular - I really would suggest you read them if you can.
Thanks for your reply. I have read these I think and I think most of the reviews are from before Yelloh took over the site. I believe since they have taken over the site they have started a program of improvement which is why I hope to hear from someone who was there last year.
One of the worst reviews is dated September 2012, from a French camper, and there are a couple of other recent ones, but I'm sure someone who was there recently will be able to help! The reviews I mentioned are not those showing up on previous thread on Cote Sauvage.

We used this site several times in the 90's, it was a really good popular family site then. There was always a good mix of nationalities, and the random layout of the pitches in amongst the trees was a welcome change from the regular rows found elsewhere. You weren't able to book though, they had an overflow area for any unlucky late arrivals, who then got first pick of pitches the next morning as people left. As a couple of golden oldies in a camper now, our priorities have changed, and we prefer to base ourselves nearer to La Palmyre or Royan.
I stayed there for two years in a row in the late 80s/early 90s as a child and have great memories of the site! Plenty of cul-de-sacs and nicely shaded.
Revisited it when I was working in the area a few years back and it did look a bit tired then, but can imagine Yelloh have done some work on it as their sites are usually pretty good. The best feature was definitely its proximity to the beach and the lighthouse which is a must visit!
Hopefully there'll be someone on here who can give you a more recent review...
I am now pretty set on this site, my concerns over the the toilet blocks have been allayed as supposedly there are a couple of modern blocks that are up to a higher standard and its a case of getting a pitch near those. On this point I now have a site plan and would love some advice on any pitch/area to ask for from anyone who has been there? I'm looking for a spacious pitch to take my 7.3m van and awning in semi shade or possibly full sun close to a good sanitary block.
I have contacted the site and they have suggested the KALIFAT area which is to the right as you come in near the path to the lighthouse.
Thanks again for all your replies
Ian
