I believe that there is a site at Sully-sur-loire which is about right for my first night stop but I'm not sure where too next nor what sites might be available at the end of August for the second night stop. Our eventual destination is the C&CC rally at Aquarious, Cost Brava, another area I've not stopped in before. We usually travel via Bilbao but are visiting relatives in Sheerness first so it is the tunnel and through France this time. All help appreciated.

There are absolutely loads of sites in France where you can stop overnight.  Many towns and even some small villages have munipal sites, where those travelling to or from a destination, make their stopovers.  You don't need to book in advance, you just turn up - and you'll find plenty of space on sites towards the end of August.

Recommendations would depend on which route you plan to take - have you worked out which way you're heading as there are several alternatives.  It suggests you're heading east of Paris if Sully sur Loire is a possible overnight - but which way are you heading from there?

If you're planning to use the free A75 autoroute, then you're probably looking at somewhere around Millau.  There are plenty of overnight sites there at that time of year, or just a bit further north at Le Calquieres at Severac le Chateau, is good for overnight stops.  From there it's a couple of hours to the border on a spectacular route.

Have a look at www.campingfrance.com which contains details of all the campsites in France.

Sites in Millau - Camping du Viaduc, Camping des Deux Rivieres, Camping le Cote Sud, Camping Les Rivages, Camping Larribal, Camping les Erables, Camping Saint Lambert, are all in an area at the junction of the Tarn and Dourbie rivers, just to the east of Millau centre, and are all walking distance to the centre of town.    All have websites - but you can use the campsite search on this website to find them - just enter Millau as the town name, and some (or most) of the above will come up.

There's also a nice little municipal site at Aguessac - just north of Millau which is used for shorter stays and overnight stops.

Very good site, stayed there several times for 3 or 4 nights. If you have time, the area is definitely worth having a look at for a couple of days.

Market day is Monday, in case you like markets - I do!!
