Hi

Can anyone tell me if there are ever offers for Portsmouth to Caen crossings?

Thanks

If you're in the Caravan Club, then Yes.  Check our their prices, and having put your dates in, then check again including seven Camping Cheques.  Someone else in another forum has reported:

I am booked on Portsmouth Caen afternoon sailing in April,  (it's important to take the afternoon sailing, as the caravan goes free) returning July, on a morning sailing (again the van goes free) with 7 camping cheques included at £330.  If I did not take the cheques it would be £358 so I am being paid £28 to accept £97 worth of cheques.

There are some offers on the Camping Cheque website, too - www.campingcheque.co.uk.

On both, you may have to play around with dates/times in order to get the best prices.

As I've said in lots of other posts, if you can't use the Camping Cheques, then they can be sold on forums such as this one, and you'lll probably be offered £10 each for them.  That makes the net cost of the ferry just £260.00 if you sell all seven Camping Cheques.

What Val says is usually correct, although I tried some crossings about a week ago and the Camping Cheque ruse with the CC did n't come up with a benefit. I find you've got to leep tryimg till you hit the jackpot, but I agree it is possible.
Small tip, use the Brittany Ferries web site to plan your cheapest crossing, they show very clearly the day of week, and time of day for cheapest price, and price of a cabin. Then go to the CC or CCC to get your discounts.

I think the afternoon out, early morning sailing back, are the only ones which attract a discount - which for us when we used the crossings was ideal.  It does mean either a very early start from a nearby campsite (we were at Chateau des Ormes) or a site in/around Caen itself or on the docks which is apparently possible too.
