After all your lovely advice about our first independant camping trip I have decided not to stray too far from home with our first trip and to go in between full commercial site and relaxed little site. I have found a site called La du Lac Des Varennes in Loire and it looks perfect. They have very reasonable rates and have more facilities etc in the summer for the kids.

We haven't bought our tent yet, although I am pretty much decided on a Sunncamp Shadow 800 DL and we have the money but thinking of waiting for a month or two and then getting it.

The campsite says it has Electricity hook ups for 10a? is this adequate? the only thing we will be using it for will be; kettle maybe once a day, heater if we need it at night to warm caravan, light, music, charging mobiles.

If this electricity is going to be enough I am thinking of booking as then we know where we are going and we can research the region and it really is good value and looks really tranquil and beautiful.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

10 amps will cover approx 2,200 watts ...
So no prob for your kettle .... depends on whatthe wattage of your heater is ... and, probably ... you shouldn't use both at the same time.
Actually, if you are going during the summer, doubt you'll need a heater.

Le lac des Varennes looks as if it's good for carp fishing, so I think I'll bookmark it for future reference as I'm sure our boys would love it, thanks!

I hope you enjoy your holiday there, if you do book it. 10amp lecci should be fine, just make sure you take a euro adapter and don't put more than one high wattage item on at once.

Enjoy!
