I have been looking to go to disneyland either next Easter (2014) or next whit half term. I have read the reveiws of the 4 vents site which looks ideal. When you book a package with the hotel and park tickets, you seem to get a massive reduction (I was quoted £640 for tickets and the Davy Crocket ranch for 4 nights, with a cheap euro crossing thrown in). The tickets themselves for 4 of us (children 5 and 6 when we travel) were nearly £600. I think I may be missing something ?!?!

Has anyone else been and could recommend the best (cheapest) way to do it?

Thanks

Andrea

Andrea,

We have been going to dlp every year for 5 years, that price sounds about right cause they do good hotel/pass deals.
Just check though I think Davy Crockett ranch does not have free shuttle bus and you have to drive to Disneyland and parking is around 20-25€ per day, most of the other hotels are either within walking distance or have a free shuttle bus that runs every 10-15 mins.

Jason

If you are ataying at the Davy Crockett Ranch you do not pay for parking in the main day visitor car park athe Disney - only if you park in the Disney Village car park which is 8 euros.

The price you have been quoted is pretty good. The only way to do it cheaper is to wait and buy annual passes next winter from sites such as cemultiadvantages or fnac in the sale as they are cheaper than buying from Disney and they usually do a buy an adult one and get a child under 11 one free. That would work out at approx £300 and you can use the passes any day for a year and your parking is included as well as other discounts in shops and restaurants.

You would then need to budget for accommodation (whether camping or otherwise - there are literally hundreds of choices)and a crossing.

If you buy the Fantasy annual passes you can stay and camp overnight in your motorhome in the disney car park free! We got a Fantasy Annual pass in August 2011 , used it again in April 2012 and for the last time before it ran out in July 2012. There are a few days you can't use it but we were not affected on any of these dates. Was great knowing we could come and go as we wanted as it meant no stress trying to get our money's worth from a two day pass. We bought our passes from Disneyland Paris itself for 159Euro each.

We really liked Davy Crocketts. We've been to DLP four times, once at Santa Fe, once at Sequoia Lodge and twice at Davy Crocketts. It's nice to be able to escape from the full on Disney-ness of the onsite hotels. Parking is free. We really liked the restaurant at Davy Crocketts too. You do get really good deals for the packages, the last time we went we got free dining as well, which saved us a bomb!

The rooms at DC as nice, they are statics done out as log cabins, but ours was very nice (and warm -we went in January and had snow!) You get breakfast each more from a booth near your cabins, it's continental style and comes in a big box, which you take back to your cabin.

Do book a character breakfast at Cafe Mickey if you go though, our kids found it magical, and it set us up perfectly for a day in the parks.

Thanks for the replies - I was going around in circles.

Re the annual passes, I did look into this but it seemed liked you could only convert to an annual pass once you were there? Can you do it in advance?

Thanks again

Hi,

I've just been and.... you may find the following useful.

I was just charged once 20 euro (I was there for 3 nights)

No water until April.

You are not supposed to use the shower block, but every one did. However it does get locked when some one is using the conference rooms from time to time.

The showers are bizarre as they are designed to completely soak all 4 walls meaning that any clothes you have with you will be soaked. Even putting your shoes out side the cubicle they still got wet.

When you switch the shower on you got a 30 second cold shower (very bracing) before they came warm.

I personally found the ques much to long for my 5 year old to put up with. Many ques were longer than an hour.

Given the choice again I would have gone to Lego land Windsor which is cheaper and better for that age group.

Hi

Been to DLP several times over the last few years both staying in their Hotels and taking the van. We are going this May half term staying on a site that takes camping cheques during that school hol and the total package for 7 nts inc ferry with the CC is £176. You only get a few days if your staying in their acommodation and to be honest their Hotels are not great unless you stay in the very expensive ones!! We stayed on 4vents the first time and its ideal for DLP, within 15mins drive of the theme parks. If you stayed longer you could go into Paris too which is fab for the kids, you wouldnt want to do that when your paying for the Hotel package. Another good Hotel for you to consider and you can book it through Alpha rooms is Magic CIrcus, in the circuit of the shuttle buses for DLP and is a much higher quality hotel than the DLP ones, weve stayed in it twice and its gorgeous with an indoor pool. You wont need to use your car as shuttles are free, price up the Hotel then price tickets up and you will prob find its a similar price but a much nicer Hotel. Dream Castle is next door to it and Thomas Cook explorers, they are all together and 10mins from the main gate of DLP. The breakfast at Magic Circus was great and much better than the DIsney Hotels. Davey crockett ranch is far out, we passed it on the motorway.

We are staying on La criox de viuex pont in May half term and intend spending a day in DLP, the kids love it but we also want to see Parc asterix and go into Paris again. We love DLP and I would recommend it, our girls loved it and depending on the time of year you go will depend on queues.

If you consider the camping cheques can be used at May half term week and at £176 inc ferry for a wks holiday its worth considering doing it that way, I have to say I much prefer taking my own van and staying on a nice campsite than staying in DLP.

Hi , we bought our annual pass at the main ticket entrance and then went into the park and to a building in the park to get our pictures taken and our passes made up. Didn't take too long but you must remember to take your passport when you do this. Then just informed the car park people how many days we were staying and they gave us a ticket to display in the windscreen. Stopping in the car park also meant no hassle with shuttle buses however do remember to stock up with food in your van as there is not really any food shops there (as we found out....4 days on rice and beans supplimented with the odd egg !!)
