Same here - one mozzie in a twenty mile radius would usually make a bee line for our lass.

Camped at both Soliel Plage and La Bouysse on the banks of the Dordogne half a dozen times with no problems.

Worst problems have been when we've camped near still water - she nearly gets etang alive.

we didnt get any bites in the Dordogne August 11 despite me usually being a magnet for mossies. I didnt really notice any mossies about to bite.

The worst bites we've ever had were in the Loire one May after a really wet period. They were so bad I just wanted to come home.

On the subject of antihistamines, it is worth starting them a couple of days before your holiday if you know you are likely to be bitten.

Last year in the south of france and spain we avoided any bites by Boots Soltan aftersun with insect repellent.
