Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right forum for the questions, so apologies if it isn't...

We've just seen the latest forecast for our trip abroad next Tuesday and it seems we could be in for an interesting drive down to Dover...!

Does anyone have any experience of crossing the Dartford Bridge with a Caravan in high wind. The forecast is for gusts up 25mph - is that likely to cause issues with the van?

Thanks in advance
Sean

If the wind is too high for the bridge they shut it & divert traffic through the left hand tunnel, ie one tunnel in each direction so could cause serious congestion at busy periods.

If there are likely to be an issue, the bridge is closed and you use the tunnel

Thanks for the responses.

Fortunately it seems only when the wind gets above 50mph so hopefully it should be fine... still not ideal for our first ever trip with the van!

Its a week away so am hoping the forecast will change a bit between now and then so we get a nice calm day!

We'll be hitting the M25 at about 8am from the M1, so going anti-clockwise would hit the worst part of the M25 at rush hour! Obviously we'll keep an eye on travel news on the day and if its bad then we'll reconsider, but I think it would add too much time to make it worthwhile.
