We are heading off to the Brittany area this Summer, getting a ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre (not actually booked yet so if you have strong opinions about different ports please say so). We've never been there before and would really appreciate some advice on where's good to stay and where to avoid. FYI we're looking for somewhere not to far away from the coast, doesn't have to be too flash, but would be nice to have a pool and a few flat roads so we can go for bike rides.
Thanks in advance

You could try Les Plages de Beg Leguer near Lannion (see my review, can't do links, sorry), it has a pool with a sliding roof and is an ACSI site but not sure of the dates for the discount...just so long as you get better weather than we did, but it was horrible all over Brittany last June. It's a lovely area, less commercialised than further south.
Can't comment on ports as we drove from Dunkerque.
Have a look at this site Llandudec.
If you have children, it has its very own large adventure park. There is good cycling and the local bigouden cider is to die for.
Unfortunately, Vacansoleil no longer exists.
One thing I would mention is that the port of Le Havre is a rather busy one and last time we went we came out of the docks into very busy morning rush hour traffic. That is one of the good things about Roscoff port we like, you are off and into the quiet countryside in no time.

Nic 3101. I suggest a Brittany guide book to choose what you want to see and do - Mont St Michel? , the big headlands like Pointe du Raz?, the inland "sea" at Morbihan?, the pink granite coast? . But they are hundreds of miles apart, so unless you plan to tour you'll have to choose.
I have been to Brittany many times, its a big area and varied especially with the weather. We love the Carnac Area which really does have its own micro climate, offering sunshine, lovely beaches and crystal clear warm seas to swim in.
Have a look at Les Menhirs in Carnac or at Camping Kervillor, la Plage or La Baie, all in Trinite Sur Mer.
We usually do Portsmouth St Malo out and Portsmouth Caen on the return.
As an alternative option consider Finistere. We've been to Camping des Abers for the last two years and thoroughly enjoyed it. Right on the beach, plenty to see and do locally. Good cycling, great facilities on the campsite.
It's not a tacky holiday park, much more of a peaceful but popular park, great for families and couples alike.
Also have a look at Camping le Panoramique just south of Brest on the Ile de Crozon. Stunning peninsula, again great for cycling with amazing coves and beaches. We stayed there last summer ( as well as des Abers). Very quiet site with huge pitches. Near to the beach but also has a pool.
Easiest ferry terminal is Roscoff for both sites.
