Hi
I've never used these before, but when we went to the NEC, I bought the camping cheque site directory. The lady who I bought it off also gave me a Alan Rodgers travel card and said I could load this up with camping cheques.
I've come to load the card up ready for Easter and I'm unsure whether there 2 totally different things. I've booked our site saying we are using camping cheques but its actually a AR travel card I have.
Is it possible someone can just clarify it for me, I may be getting confused over nothing. I think as its the first time I've done anything like this I'm just a bit nervous. I don't want to get to site and they say they don't accept this card.

Have a read through this thread, though you might find it even more confusing!
I think (haven't tried it!)you can load it through the Alan Rogers website, possibly with an administration charge, rather than through the Camping Cheque one, when it should be accepted at any of the Camping Cheque sites (subject to the dates as listed of course).
Camping Cheques are sold by Alan Rogers in this country - they are the franchise holders - so this is just another way of buying them. You can download them on to the Alan Rogers card and sites will accept them in the same way as they do with paper cheques, or the Silver or Gold Cards.
Many thanks for your response. Ive decided to order the silver camping cheque card as its free anyway. So im just waiting for it to arrive. Like you said Hacksaw Bob i did find that thread a tab bit more confusing. But it sounds like no one has used the alan rogers travel card yet. So im a bit nervous in trying it out.

Don't bother with Camping cheques - you have to pay up front for them - if you are travelling out of high season get an ACSI discount card -cost about £14 but nothing to pay up front and after 2 nights you have saved the cost of the card. You also get an excellent campsite book free with nearly 1500 campsites across europe
I can understand the pros of the ACSI card. Ie not paying in advance but on the other hand Camping Cheques, which are pre paid are equally as handy because you don't need to carry cash or incur credit card interest when paying.
I will be using a mix of both this year and that way it will open up further sites too.
We find we are using the ACSI Card more and more. So many Camping Cheque sites seem to have defected to ACSI I am now wondering whether I will bother in future with them. As regards paying I never incur interest charges as I always pay my bills whilst away using my netbook. Depending on the exchange rate ACSI can be a bit cheaper.

Yes David, I'm finding that there are more ACSI sites. I have a 66 day holiday coming up from May and there are only 20 nights using Camping Cheques, 32 using ACSI and others cash.
Have just got to get round the credit card payments on a monthly basis. I have a Halifax Clarity card and am sure I will be able to set up a monthly SO to pay off the balance.
Do you not take a laptop with you? If so you could pay things as you go along. The Clarity card is good for getting cash out of ATM's as there are no charges except for a small interest charge if you don't pay it off until you get the statement.
