Wonder if anyone can help. We are wanting to travel with our caravan into Germany to visit the Rhine, staying on a campsite with electric hook up. We are a oouple in their fifties, children now left home. wanting a quiet holiday. Dont mind a pool or bar on site. Going end of june for two weeks, dont mind travelling to different campsites. Could use camping cheques or acsi card. Any ideas

We have stayed at Camping Sonneneck and Campingplatz Rudesheim which are both on the Rhine. The only problem with Sonneneck, as well as other similar campsites is the noise from the train lines on either side of the river. Now there might well be other sites which are not as close to the railway line. I always fine river sites fascinating as I love watching the river traffic. Rudesheim was much quieter and an easy walk into the town.

It is a few years since we stayed there, but Camping Burg Lahneck sounds like it might suit you. The recent reviews match my impression of it well. I think it has less train noise than some other Rhine valley sites because it is higher up, and it does have lovely views down over the river.

Kóln, Koblenz and Kónigswinter on the Rhein and Cochem on the Moselle. Not far to travel, plenty to see and do. Close to the towns and the wine is great.

Agree with that, the Moselle valley is much quieter altogether than the Rhine, and IMHO prettier too. You can go from Koblenz down the Moselle to Trier, and there are quite a few sites along the way. One outside of Cochem, and another one in Zell, which is very close to Bernkastel, which is a lovely medieaval village/town.
