Camping Olympia or Hotel Regio Camping are ok but avoid
Camping Don Quiote as its a dump and the last time we were there
the EHU points were all dodgy with NO earth connection on the
dozen or so that I tested

Four years ago we stayed at Camping El Astral in Tordesillas, 25 km south of Valladolid. It was a good site then, and it's since been improved even further after becoming a part of the Kawan group. I've done a review on here which is now rather out of date, but there's a more recent one which is very favourable.

Another vote for El Astral, super site stayed there last june, the facilities are superb.

Would suggest Camping Olimpia just north of Salamanca. The site is literally 2 minutes off the A62/ E80 so you don't need to go into the city at all.
Site is kept immaculately, small restaurant run by owner with a 3 course meal for €10.00
We took similar trip to you and used this as first stop off then crossed border into Portugal. If you are going on the A25 from the border into Portugal its one of the Paragem auto tolls - you probably know already you need to pay in advance as there are not any toll booths.
