I don't know where I got the information from but I believe the the Lake Garda sites are becoming much more crowded in June.

We don't want to book in advance, does anyone have any first hand experience of just turning up?

Just the two of us old bangers!

ACSI and Camping Cheques.

We just turned up at Bella Italia on lake Garda 2 years ago and the sites was full, but we did get on in the end as the pitches change quite quickly. The site takes both camping cheque and acsi card.

The secret is to avoid the German school holidays that often happen in June. Italy is a relatively easy trip for our German chums, a bit like us going to Scotland. If you look at both Camping Cheques and ACSI campsite just take a note of when some of them are not accepted in June and avoid those dates. We were at Garda last June, during the German school holidays and it was very crowded and it was quite difficult to get out and about because of the traffic. (Should have followed my own advice!!!)

David

Good point David - just Goggled German school holidays which threw up 16 regions taking different dates off.

Most don't start their summer holidays till July, but the Berlin region starts as early as June 19/20th.

This sould give us a good two week window to work with!

More ideas in this direction would be appreciated and thanks to all up to now.

Might see you there!

May I ask, why Camping Weekend, a recommendation or after weeks of comparing?
