Hi Tammie, As you have entered this thread on the Camping abroad section I assume you are planning for your trip to be abroad (not often you would need Air Con in this country). Depending on where you are planning to go you may have problems running any AC unit. Most sites in France are limited to 6 amps per pitch and I suspect your proposed AC unit would reach that without reckoning on your other electrical requirements. Probably worth checking on your proposed itinery to find what the sites you are thinking of using provide and limit usage to. Some sites specifically will not allow AC units because of noise. Worth doing some homework before you make the investment. John

Yep Tammie, when we were down in the Southern Ardeche last July, one or two folk were saying how uncomfortable it was in the caravan at night due to the heat, even one of the folk in a Static mentioned the same, although they had left the windows open overnight, which lead to a Mozzie feeding feast in there unit, apparently there were no mozzie screens on the windows in the Statics, so I gave them my spare mozzie window net.
Strange thing is, we were absolutely fine in our cotton Tent, even with the ZiG fully zipped up and all doors completely closed, with just the mozzie net windows to let the air in.
I think an AirCon unit is an absolute must in a caravan for the South of France in the peak of summer, when I was doing my caravan research, I discovered that you can retro fit under bench units into caravans, which would be easy to take out for use in another van when the time comes, the Dometic unit was around £800 definatley a better solution than the roof mounted units you see imho.
