Hi folks just after a bit of advise please, we (2kids 10 and 5 and the missus) are returning to the Vendee in August. Will be travelling from Derbyshire to the tunnel approx 220 miles then will be stopping for 1 night near Rouen before the final leg of the journey.
We have decided to try one of the pre erected tents this year and this is all booked for a couple of weeks.
I have managed to book a third week off work and we would like to try somewhere else for 4 or 5 nights ( taking our smaller tent). This is where the advice is needed. We are looking for a decent site on the way back to the tunnel that is either near the coast or a lake with a good pool complex for the kids. Initially was looking at upper Normandy or the Loire but I will need to factor in the final days travelling. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

We stayed here http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=5526 Camping De La Vallee at Houlgate, for three nights last year on our way back from the Vendee. Great for kids. A lovely (if slightly windy) beach nearby and lots of sightseeing if you like some of the WW2 sites such as Pegasus Bridge (excellent English speaking guide). Otherwise some nice little towns and villages in the area.
La grande tortue near Blois in the Loire is a lovely site great swimming pool complex with a brand new heated covered pool with retractable roof. also has trampolines and bouncy castle - great for kids. We are going for second time for a week this summer with our 6 year old grandson.

Thanks again for the information, some really good suggestions. we will now have to weigh up all the pros and cons for each area/campsite and take in to consideration the last leg of the journey.
