Hi all,
we're desperate to find a stopover hotel on the A6 around Auxerre (or north of) that will either sleep 4 or have interconnecting rooms. Its me taking 3 kids to the South of France so wanting something like a F1 or MErcure, near or on the motorway.
Seems like nobody does rooms for 4 or interconnecting - we have to have a door between, not just rooms next to each other.
Anyone have any suggestions>
Thanks,

I Have not had problems finding rooms for 5 if you book early enough
Ibis Style Hotels specialise in families - we usually use them. There hotel in Bourges is a real favourite as it has one room below and a second on a mezzanine, it caters for 5.

Some of the "Premiere Classe" budget hotels have room for 4.
We got some good prices with "Premiere Classe" for this July and have booked 5 rooms at £30 per room, which is less than we paid last July.

Agree that family rooms can be found from the hotel chains websites, such as www.accor.com or from agents such as www.booking.com To find a pair of inter-connecting rooms you may need to contact either of those sources via the contact link on their website and ask whether they have rooms like that, as not every hotel has them by any means.

We've stopped in a hotel B&B, one double, one single and a bunk across the top. Clean, basic, but comfortable. Around 50euros depending on locations. Hotel B&B

The Hotel Campanile Auxerre has rooms with an interconnecting door (or did in 2003) when we stayed there.

thanks all for your posts, tried all the booking sites and found this place: http://www.hotelnormandie.fr/ off the A6 by Auxerre.
which has large family rooms for 4 for under £100 which is very reasonable!
Just wish places like Formule1 and Mercure would get on board and do rooms for 4 rather than a max of 3 - as most families have more than 1 child travelling with them.
