Just wandered as the Mrs is a teacher I'm self employed with a quiet week. Is it too cold this time of year, only thinking of a two or three hour drive over the other side of tunnel. Comments and experiences really appreciated

I doubt that you'll find any better weather within 2-3 hours from the tunnel. Possibly a few degrees warmer, but not worth going all that way IMHO.
What about a last-minute package holiday to somewhere warm? May cost the same or possible even less, and you'd have better weather and some sun on your back!
We'd planned to go over Easter, but the rubbish weather and the restricted number of campsites that are open made us change our mind. Reckon we'll go next month, instead.
We were there during April, 2011, and had the most amazing sunshine down in the Dordogne. I don't know what's happened to the weather this year but it still feels a bit too much like winter to me, to be camping right now.
I look at it like this: it'll cost the same in time / fuel / tolls / food / campsite fees in an another month, but the weather can make a world of difference to the way it feels. I think of France, I think of sunshine. Not sure I'd love it so much in the cold and the wet!

Thanks, weather looks all over the shop, shame it wasn't a little bit more settled as I would have chanced it, oh well win some lose some.
Thanks
Christian
We got back from Pontorson, near Mont Saint Michel on Saturday. We had been there just over the week. The sun was out during the day but there was a wind which was very cold. On a night time it turned cold and some mornings we woke up to a severe frost and on another morning we woke up to a slight covering of snow.
We just wrapped up warm, the whole purpose of the holiday was just to get away from work and go somewhere different. I know France seems along way to do that but we had a fab time
Halitosis is an excellent site. We were there last year. We had a private bathroom pitch. On walking round some looked a bit small to us, but our motorhome is over 28 ft. Large Carrefour just across the road from site. We could have cycled to mont Saint Michelle, but didn't because we intended to stay there on the aire the night after we left. As it was the aire had changed locality and in its place was a new aire costing 25 euros per night with no facilities. We moved on. Maybe next time. Had wi fi in the reception area.

We're off on Thursday early in the morning to Caen, staying overnight in a lovely hotel in Honfleur. After breakfast and a mooch around the shops, we then plan to wander around Deaville and do a supermarket shop before we head back. Can't wait.
we are currently on the vendee, been here since easter. weather very changeable, cold at night, not really the weather for tenting. lots of rain and wind, a few sunny spells but certainly not enough to be jealous about being in blighty and missing them!! we're also happy just to get away for a break but its a bit easier for us weather wise as we are in our static
