I can't think of any sites there that I would class as "small and near the beach". There are two large sites at the coast - Bonne Anse Plage and Phare de la Coubre I think - but we haven't any knowledge of them. 

 Quite a lot of the sites are clustered around Les Mathes, about 4 km. from the coast - on the inland side of a belt of National forest park where development is strictly controlled. You have a lot of choice there , whether you want sites with waterslides or plain pools, sites with and without bar restaurants, with and without discos and kids clubs, and so on.
