Does anyone know of an overnight stop 2 hours from Calailgiums, at first we thought we could be over in france by about 4.30pm and would be able to get as far as Charleroi but having amended our ferry crossing the only one we can get on is the 2.45 from Dover so think a 2 hour drive will be as much as we can do before sites decide to close for the day. we are going down towards Luxembourg then on to Freiburg if any one has any suggestions I would be most grateful, preferably a site name so I can email them and let them know. I have looked on campsite search. J x
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
What about spending a night at Ypres? You could then do the Menin Gate ceremony at 8.00 pm? Just a thought although it does take you a bit off your route.
Otherwise, somewhere around Lille??? There's a site there - Camping Les Ramiers - never been, but it would seem about the right distance.
Thanks Val, will check them out, Les Ramiers would be about right distance, dont want to go off route as we only have 8 nights away so just want to get there fast and not pay tolls, have been looking at a site in Tournei, camping l orient but i cant get my old computer to translate so i can find out what time reception closes, dont suppose you speak the lingo do you? What lingo is it in? If it's Dutch, I can help you, French possibly also. Have googled it, but can't find what you are referring to. Doesn't seem to have it's own website, or at least I can't find one.

Tournai (French) or Doornik (Flemish)

Yes Leo, I found that too, but it's in English. I thought the OP had found a site not in English, which had info about opening times, which she couldn't read or something, hence my question.
Julie. Arrive Calais at 4.30 or 5.30.pm, go the site along the road at at Bleriot Plage, have a walk on the beach, cup of tea, gin and tonic or whatever, smart dinner at Cote d'Argent restaurant by the main Calais beach car park, drive to Luxembourg in the morning. It beats stopping in Belgium.
