Does anyone know a campsite in south of France that is reasonable walking distance from a village/town with bars and restaurants. Not too fussed about the area as long as it has a good pool (have a 10yr old girl) and decent sized pitches.
Really looking forward to christening our new Karsten tent in the heat of the south of France in August
Thanks,
Tricia
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Hi Tricia.
We have been to the Southern Ardeche this last few years.
For our fortnight campings at "Domaine de Gil" it is just a 1 mile walk to the spa town of "Vals Les Bains" and from there just a 1€ return bus ride to the main town of Aubenas.
Check out the reviews on here for "Domaine de Gil" superb 4 Star campsite. But without all the bells and whistles which suits us just fine.

Thanks have checked this out it has great reviews unfortunately booked for our dates might contact them direct though
There are two other sites in St. Remy de Provence. Monplaisir appears to be permanently 'fully booked' for all of the summer. We had a look around and while it is well manicured and looks very nice I don't think there was much difference between it and Pegamas where we stayed. Pegamas has the added advantage that it is only about 500 metres from the town. Close enough to pop in for an ice cream!
Hi all
Thanks so much for all your replies we are thinking of Massereau as it has a slide in the pool which the daughter will love. We stayed at a Castel site last year and it was great
