Toying with dragging trailer over to france in august, Brittany or Normandy. Never done it before, although we are well trained and experienced UK campers. All advice/info etc most gratefully recieved!!!!
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Ask over in the Camping Abroad section....should be loads of help over there. Not towed in France for many years, but camping and driving in France is sooooo easy!
We've towed in France (caravan) & it was really easy until we hit Rouen We really should have studied the map 1st
There's loads of really good advice in the camping abroad section & France is gorgeous. We went down to the Vendee. La Rochelle is now forever on my list of favourite places
Book your crossing asap as prices will rise nearer to summer. If you only want to go to Normandy by far your cheapest bet will be a Dover crossing, particularly with a trailer. DFDS are often cheapest but check P&O & MyFerryLink, book direct on their websites.
Normandy & Brittany will only give you UK weather with a French twist, if you want hot weather you need to go much further south so an overnight stop will be required. Take small tents for this to save erecting large tent for one night.
the vendee is a little bit further south but prob not much more 'time wise' - weather tends to be warmer and dryer and worth considering. why not keep an eye on the weather and don't actually book anywhere up to the last possible moment. so long as youre flexible on type of site etc, you WILL find plenty of places to stay where the weather is warmer!
