We are off to Uzes and then Portiragnes in August. I have booked an over night hotel in Dover for the very early Friday morning Dover Crossing, then a night Avenue Gambetta
Tournus, 71700
France
here for one night.
Does this seem doable, or am I unrealistic?
Never ever driven so far before so a bit worried.
Any thoughts
thanks

It would be relatively easy using the motorways and paying the tolls. Toll free would be pushing it taking perhaps an extra 3 to 4 hours.
Though to Portiragnes I wouldn't go that route especially in August especially if it was a weekend.
Calais, Rouen, Chartres, Orleans, Vierzon, Millau, Beziers.
Also I would get an evening crossing and stop in France to get the best start the next day.
French motorways are amazing with very little road noise, though you do pay for it. I would say you can do 50% more driving time on French motorways than UK ones.
I go via Troyes - Lyon. Depends what day/time you are travelling on how long it takes. I would say with no traffic you will get to Tournus in 5.5 hours, then another 4 to Uzes. That is if you stick to the 81mph speed limit on the toll roads. At the weekend during the day you are looking at alot more time.
Just worked out that you will be doing the last stint on a Saturday and going through Lyon. I would try and leave as early as possible, 5am. I use this website to get an idea of traffic predictions, they should give August predictions soon. http://www.autoroutes.fr/fr/previsions-de-trafic.htm
Have been going to Uzes for many years and will be there again this year, where are you staying in Uzes?
