HELP
I,m new to this motorhome touring game, looking forward to having a wee trip to france(on a budget) come summer holidays for 3 to 4 weeks, there will be 5 of us(2 adults 3 kids) in our elddis autoquest 160. what i'd like to know is it possible with an army of children (seems expensive)and also any hints and tips would be much appreciated.

buy the book - all the aires - from vicarious books, then plan your holiday around the free aires - so long as youre in a nice area for activities and attractions etc, then you can save a bob or two on site fees and actually see more of france. you could always stop at a couple of sites to break the holiday and travelling up! you can virtually stop anywhere - so long as there no signs saying no motorhomes etc

you can often find emptying points etc that are free though you will probably need to pay a couple of euros for topping the water up etc. most 'europeans' with motorhomes use the aires as opposed to stopping on sites

Hi Gareth, please bear in mind if you use the motorhome aires that you cannot put the following out, table & chairs, awning, steps,washing or anything that will make it look as if you are camping,

Check out the camping abroad forum. There are hundreds of regular visitors to France with a wealth of info and experience. There's no better advice anywhere on the web.

France is made for camping, certainly more so than the UK.. You will love it and so will your kids.

where possible stay on the national roads its cheaper more sedate and plenty of places to stop for shops and routier restaurants .the motorways in france are the best in Europe but at a cost and you don't get to see the real france just miles of motorway national roads are the way to go more to see no tolls plenty of places to park shop and eat .also the French supermarkets are very good watch out tho some do have a height restriction but there is normally a place close bye to park have a great time
