We had some people try to flag us down in a lay-by near Saumur yesterday. Couple of men with a battered old saloon with non-french plates (didnt see which, dont want to assume but suspect e. european) We ignored them, and drove on.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Had it happen to me over here, turned off M6 onto M42 and a bloke in a suite stood out in nearside lane waving his arm's about at me. There was another guy talking to someone in a van on the hard shoulder and a silver Mercedes, I thought there had been a bump and stopped when the chap in suite opened passenger door and started jabbering on in broken English that he had run out of petrol and took these big gold rings off and offered me them for money. I told him to keep rings and I would return with some petrol ( like hell) but he kept offering me the rings, then he suddenly waved at me and took off just as a motorway patrol pulled in front. On speaking to the highway agency chap he said it's a scam they are doing it regular and the gold rings are fake. Next time they jump out at me I will be aiming at them !
Call us hard or unfeeling, but we never stop for anything or anybody, unless it is obviously the police. We've been flagged down at lights in the name of cleaning windscreens, and at other times for we-know-not-what.
Something else I don't have is a handbag on show, I don't even take one away with me, as I think that a handbag is a sure sign of having money/passports/creditcards. All that is in the safe in the van, which is nigh on impossible for me to get at with a set of keys, never mind anyone else!!
