Greetings NEAD,
If only to get the grinning emotion away here goes;
Ball park figure, using the Dual Carriageway/ Motorway all the way from Santander to Cambrils via Bilbao, Miranda, Zaragoza and Lleida and using Toll Road when available will be a mileage of about 400 miles. It will take 8hrs (because you will not have to go thru towns etc. and will cost about £35 in Tolls and £58 in fuel.

Ignore the tolls and, doing more or less the same journey, the cost goes up in fuel to £90 and the distance goes up to 420miles.
In addition the time taken to do the journey is a ball park eleven and a halve hours. ie Because YOU DO have to drive thru the towns.

So it can be seen that for about the same money, using the tolls, the journey can be doable in a day.

Enjoy.!!!

You have really only one choice, having done Santander and Bilbao to Barcelona a few times. The roads are good. You dont say which day your travelling but should be fairly quiet even on a Saturday ..its the Auto Pisa toll roads or Auto Visa free roads.

First towards Bilbao don't be tempted to go south and then to take the A68 to Logrono and on to Zaragoza, before heading to Lleida and then I would go to the end of the 90 and then 7 south.

If you are just car then 6 or 7 hours easy depends if you need stops and how many, if you are towing, caravan or trailer allow longer but they were and I think still are free in Spain but id allow a bit more than 35 in tolls for the car...its a strange pricing structure.

One other thing on signs the roads are preceded by corresponding letters to indicate the city you are heading towards M is Madrid B is Barcelona, MA Malaga (had to be more than one M). This is followed by the number or road you are using.
