Hi all

Travelling down to the Dordogne from Zeebrugge on 1st September and returning on 12th September so i need some idea of sites to stay overnight (outward) and for 2 nights (homeward) ,thinking of the area around Orleans so it's not a long slog back to Zeebrugge for the ferry home, quite like the sound of a site in the ACSI book in Jargeau.

many thanks in anticipation

Two reviews here on Campsite Search for the Jargeau site - sounds a fun end of season place.

For us, an important issue for an overnight site, is easy access to the route we're travelling on.  To get to the Dordogne I would take us down the N154 south of Orleans (or on the N10 toll road if you use tolls) and Jargeau would be too far away from that route for us.

Sites along this section of the N154 can be found at , Ferte St Aubin, Nouan les Fuzelier, and Salbris - and all are fine for an overnight stop and with much easier access than Jargeau.  However, many municipal sites close early in the season, so do check that the site will be open when you're travelling.

Many thanks for the info, was thinking of using the toll roads for the ease of travel. The site in Jargeau will probably be the place we stay at on the way down and if we find it ok will probably stay ther for thr 2 nights coming home and then check Orleans out although quite fancy having a look around Chartres so a site closer to Chartres may be a better option on the way home
