Hi There
We are off to Le Pin P in a couple of weeks. Can anybody give me any info on the site and the surrounding area. Is the site within close walking distance to a local town ie Tabac.
Is there a large supermarket close by, we have been spoiled for these thinga in La Croix over the past few years but the development there seems to be pushing tourers out so trying somewhere else.

We're off there in the summer, never been before though been to la Garangeoire which is not far away. I might be wrong but I don't think there is a town within walking distance, though there is a restaurant near the lake. From la Garangeoire it was 10-15min drive to the supermarket so I'm guessing it's similar. Places I've picked up on from posts on here incl puy du fou, green Venice and ile de noirmoutier, and the tree trekking place at st julien ds landes, and apremont but some are a fair drive away.

Hopefully someone who's been there can give you more ideas.

Been there for the past few years and no town nearby. We used the supermarket in Coax under 10mins away. The site does have a pretty good basic shop.

Its a really good area, what age are you children?
The lake at apremont really is fun, as is the river where you can canoe/kayak upstream.
Parc des dunes at Bretignolles is really fun, very tacky but the kids will love it.
The castle at Talmont st hilaire is really good. If you have time a day at PUY du Fou is definitely worth every penny.

The Super U in Coex reachable by bike but a bit far to walk. We used L'eclerc in Olonnes Sur Mer which is about 20 mins away but has a far greater choice and also an excellent sea food section as you enter the shopping mall.

Stayed at La Garangeoire (relatively close to Pin Parasol) for a few years - most recently in 2008, and we frequently used the SuperU at La Mothe-Achard, a few miles "south" (on the D12/D21)of the site. It was a reasonable size and had a filling station.

Much larger but further out (approx 8-10 miles "north-east" there was a new Hyper-U at Aizenay, which was pretty large as these go. Again I think there was fuel available.

Just had a look on Google Maps and both are labelled if you zoom in almost all the way in. The Hyper U is close to the D948E on the Rue de La Roche.

Closest village to LeP-P would appear to be La Chapelle-Hermier just a little north of the site. Passed through the village and appears to have lots of recent residential development so can't comment on village shops and the like. More of a bike ride (2-3 mls) would be St Julien des Landes south on the D21, which is reasonable for a village with tabac, cafe/bar, ATM's, other shops and a regular market.

Hope this helps.
Have great memories of family holidays in the area - Lac du Jaunay on your doorstep is impressive and worth an explore if you like biking, walking, fishing etc before you venture further afield. I think there was a boat/pedalo hire place near to the driveable dam wall road.

Google Maps is your friend if you need to check before you go.

La Chapelle-Hermie has a market every week (sorry can't remember which day) - there are a couple of patisseries, a mini market and at the end of the village a cave which sells wine and spirits.

The site shop at Le Pin Parasolle was reasonable and the take away pizza / burger kiosk was very popular when we were there although if memory serves closed on Tuesdays.

There is a perfectly reasonable bar on site too.

They even sent us Christmas card last year.

I know what you mean David, I booked the trip in March and I have a birthday card off them already !
Many thanks for all your suggestions if there is any more I would be most gratefull.
Pity I can't walk to the pub, oh well not to worry I will just have to get to know the barman/woman on the site
