First week of July you won't need to book anywhere in that area, the season will have hardly started. If you just turn up at the site you mention in your op I'm sure they will have plenty of space.

Thanks for your replies, its actually for my son and partner, its the 1st time for them and I think she is worried they will all be booked up, i said, just go. Put 3 sites in your sat nav and look at them all then decide, its my son that wont pay the booking fee even though its only 16 euros, I suggested all ACSI sites for the stay in 3 locations but Le Teday didnt fit the bill. He wants to be close enough to walk into town and have a choice of restaurants and bars and also be close enougt to walk or cycle to beach, I have done my bit now its up to them, thanks for your input. J x

You can walkintthe nearest town...Moutchic, there is a link to 100K of cycle tracks through the pine forrest , there are sevaerl beaches accessed via this cycle piste...this is why we go there. We were there for a 2 weeks and didn't need to go near a main road. It was fantastic. Check out images of the local area: Moutchic Piste Cyclables, Lacanau. the World Sufing Chmapionships are held here every year, it is gorgeous. le Tedey is next to a HUGEake and only 4k from the ocean, with a 100miles of sand from Lacanau to Biarritz. The Aqutaine coastline is beautiful with only Hosegor and Lacanu Ocean as large commercila areas...everywhere else is like a nature reserve. Many of the wealthy Parisiens have a second home along this stretch of coastline. Le Tedey's website does not reflect its true beauty. You can hire bikes from site, learn to windsurf..definately a sporty place. (nothing like the bustling area further North) Tends to be popular with Dutch and French, very few Brits.........it really is gorgeous. Iwouldn't go anywhere else along this coast.

Sorry to hijack this Bobcat but am very interested in Le Tedey.
Is the lake freshwater or salt water? Looking at the campsite map the lake side pitches look gorgeous! Do you pay a premium for these? Are they sunny pitches? Also I take it that the lakeside pitches are not electric?
Sorry for all the questions but apart from the electric issue it's ticking a lot of our boxes ( and we have a huge list!)

Have a look at the website, tere is a site map calearly showing the electric hook up areas.
We generally pitch near the 'spit' of sand, and near the bar...yes there are elctric hook ups along this stretch.
There is no premium, but they do tend to be taken first.
There are several points for the facilitiers which by the way are ultra clean. this site is privately run.....not a chain which is managed.
The location is secure with a barrier system inplace. The gate is closed at 11pm, so if you are late back you hav eto leave your car, but it will be safe. This is so taht people sleeping will notbe disturbed. the site is patrolled all the time by someone in a golf buggy too.
The site shop is excellent but the E L'Clerc is only a short distance away in Lacanau. there is a cycle lane up to the site.
The site shop serves hot and cold food, as does the bar.
The bar is on the beach.
You can hire bikes.
There is a notice board where the local markets are posted.
There is a daily weather update.
We have lots of boxes to tick and Le Tedey ticks them all for us.
The Lac is salt water, there is a long shallow section which makes it ideal for children and adulst who do not want to go in too deep.
We tend to ditch the car and cycle everyhere, this includes the daily trip for fresh food, and rides to the nearby beach resorts which are all linked on the cycle path.
It is a real back to nature experience with red squirrel

We dicovered Le Tedey after being dissappointed by the are further north of the Gironde estuary. I know it is popular but it is too commercial for us.
The other beauty of this area is the proximity to Bordeaux which is a beautiful city. Also the vineyards are wonderful. Historic St Emillion and Libourne are a short distance away. The Archachon basin with the famous Pyla sand dune is also not far.....and ideal should the weather turn poor and you have to keep little peops entertained.
Lacanau Ocean is a buzzing beach resort favoured by surfers from all over the world, in fact it is host to the world championships each August.
Can't say enough about this area, it is Eden.
