Here, its an evaporative
cooler not a refrigerated a/c unit.
Fill it with water, the air might be a bit cool, it won't
be refrigerated. Works best in dry not humid air.
We do the same thing without buying anything extra, by just putting a dish of iced water in front of the blowers on our blown air system and keeping the fan on cold.

Wondered if it might be useful for us minimal fabric-tops. It does take ice blocks, but then we've nowhere to create them since we got rid of the TT. G&T's and Pernod have been a bit warmer since.
The thing is, I can't resist a good gizmo; I feel the siren call of this one, singing to me across t'internet. Like it did when I saw a battery powered fan-with-water-spray in Maplin's that time .....
I looked at getting one of these last year before we went to Spain thinking we'd need it, but didn't buy in the end as it may not have arrived in time before we left. As it turned out we didn't need it, coped quite well with the heat. If you do get one let us know what you think of it

Just need to figure a out a plausible argument to get it past the senior management.
Val - we're not off till September; by which time I'm expecting US-style heatwave to make it unbearable. Hope the coolth didn't spoil your trip too much.
we have a large one of these coolers for the van, works brilliant in hot temps. The only problem SWMBO says the fan is too loud and I am not allowed to use it. Another gadget wasted
