Hi

Due to sail to Holland on Monday with a car and small camping trailer. We normally pack the gas bottle within the trailer and to be honest it is buried under lots of other stuff (following my trailer packing plan!).

The info on the website states that gas bottles have to be handed to the crew on ship....what are peoples experience of this? Do I have to keep it accessible to hand over once boarding?

We come back Calais to Dover with P&O but no details re gas here.

I've taken this crossing several times and tbh never handed over any bottle and have never seen anyone else either. The crew are very keen to get you out your cars and on deck as soon as possible. I vwouldn't worry about it but someone may come along and say different - interesting concept as cant really see how they would be safer anywhere else as opposed to being in cars - the car desks are closed during crossing anyway. Wonder how they would monitor who got which bottle back!!

Thanks For your reply. I totally agree with what you have said and will just wait until/if asked. Hate the chase to get you out of cars even when we have been on short/local ferries so dreading that. We are not quick to organise but hopefully will just have once wee case to take with us.

Had a really good journey across. No problem with gas bottles....checked our trailer & just asked if we had gas but didnt take it.
Now relaxing at Delftse Hout campsite...looking good.
