We're sailing to Roscoff, then going south of Nantes. Which is the best route, to go the north route, round the Rennes ring road & drop down to Nantes, or go south from Roscoff to Quimper & on to Nantes where we can get on the autoroute to carry on on south? Has anyone done done the journey & got advice of which route is best, thanks.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
For the past few trips we have crossed Portsmouth/Caen or Poole/Cherborg but returned up the N165 to sail home Roscoff/Plymouth(and to take in a couple of nights at Carnac) We take a short cut cross country on the D18/D30 from Le Faou to Landivisiau.
A friend who always crosses from Plymouth/Roscoff told me that all recommendations from route planners Michelin etc. advise the route taking in Rennes. Mileage wise I don't think there is anything in it

Thanks, I looked at Michelin which recommended Rennes, but wasn't sure if it would be madness & mayhem. As you've done it & it's been ok,looks like Rennes ring road it is! TA!

with you mikegalagher.... we did the pootle down the N165, really pretty stretch of road, and I don't think you lose out too much time wise. However we had planty of time to get to our site so no stress, I know its different if time is short. Do what ever keeps you calm& happy
