Hi all quite new to the camping scene I have a VW camper with electric hook up fitted its a proffesional fitted van not DIY, I have heard that in some cases the polarity is reversed in France? not really sure what this is all about any ideas or suggestions as to how to check or what I need to do???????????
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Although your may be on a site with reverse polarity, (live and neutral reversed), as long as you electrical equipment is modern it won`t be anything to worry about.
I have never heard of anyone dying on a French site with reverse polarity.
You can use one of these, which will let you know if the sites electrical supply is reverse polarity.
You've opened a can of worms there!
You can get a small plug in tester, and have a couple of leads clearly labeled as reverse polarity leads, to switch it back to the correct ways.
Although, if it was a very serious issue, caravans and motorhomes would be fitted as standard with a reverse polarity alarm and switch.
A big thanks to all who replied and some good advice just in case anyone is interested ALDI have a plug in tester on offer this Sunday its £2.99 and the lights in the plug show if the polarity is switched good for camping or the home.
