I'm posting for a friend who is driving a 7 berth motorhome to vieux port messages at the end of July. She is booked on the eurotunnel on a Tuesday and will do an overnight stop. She plans to go via Rouen and Is the only driver. Any tips on route/stopover sites etc. It's the first time she will have driven it on this route but did tow a small caravan there last year but wasn't the only driver then. They'll be away for 18 nights in total.

If only one overnight stop I'd recommend Le Sabot, the municipal at Azay Le Rideau, near Tours (about halfway from the tunnel to the destination).
Basically from Rouen to Messanges you're heading A28 Le Mans / Tours, and then A10 to Bordeaux then the A63.
Your OP doesn't make it clear when she is booked on Vieux Port from / until so not clear how long the journey is intended to take (she is booked on to Vieux Port in the middle of the French holiday season I hope).
I made a driving video from Biarritz to Vieux Port yesterday. Coming form the north you will probably leave the A63 at junction 10 (as opposed to junction 8 in the video) so from 1:32 in the video is of relevance. Once you turn off the D652 be careful of kids on bikes and people walking all over the place. There are three severe speed bumps too.
