We are travelling in August for 3 weeks, Calais, Luxembourg, Swiss Alps, Grindelwald, Italy (possibly Lake Garda) and back up through Annecey. We need some family friendly basic campsites. Can anyone suggest any ones that really are a good choice. Not keen on the massive sites, although whilst in Italy (which we plan to stay a week)it would be nice to have one with a pool and play area, but not that fussed if it doesnt!
Thank you!!!!

we spent 6 nights in Camping Birkelt in Luxembourg last summer and really enjoyed it. It holds around 420 pitches so one of the largest we have stayed on but it didn't feel too cramped.
We travel on the 4th August for 3 weeks. So I am guessing it wont be beneficial! Any ideas would be great, thank you! Thank you for you details of the site in Luxenbourg!
I have tried, everywhere I contact seems to be booked up!!! We are struggling to find a decent campsite especially in Italy (any lake!) Any help / suggestions would be great, thankyou!

Helen. I'd forget Lake Garda in August. It will be packed.
If you are buying a vignette to travel in switzerland I'd stick at that. For Grindelwald have a look at www.eigernordwand.ch and then explore other parts of that country.
But if you love mountains and want to put your toes into Italy then the Gran Paradiso national Park is good, and the Dolomites are amazing, but Lake Garda sites will be jam packed with people in August.
Thats great thankyou, we are going to head to Iseo! Great advice and thatnks for the Grindelwald campsite! Should be fun. We fancy taking a cable car up the mountain (thinking a James Bond theme to this holiday coming on!!)
If you like lakes and mountains, why not consider Austria?
It's much cheaper than Switzerland - 10day vignette 8.30e, in my opinion prettier and it's easy to get to Italy. The campsites in Austria are some of the best in Europe.
