Hello
Has anyone stayed in this campsite in Benidorm? We would be interested in your views.
We are looking to stay here in our camper van over Christmas.
Has anyone done anything thing like this over the Christmas period?
Hope to hear from you soon.

I can not comment on Villasol. We stayed at Almafra which is a couple of miles away from Benidorm town but has a good, cheap bus service from outside the site which runs every 15 minutes. Handy if you want to leave your van parked up. Nice modern site and reception staff speak good english. You can look at my review.

Has anybody camped in Spain/Benidorm over Christmas?

I was at Almafra March/April including Easter. Don't know about Christmas. If you telephone or email they will let you know. I got good answers when I made enquiries. There is also a regular train from outside Almafra to Benidorm.

We may want to stop at Tarrogna on the way down to Benidorm. Can anyone recommend any winter opening campsites around this area?
Thanks.

Hi Jan & Steve,

My wife and I have overwintered on Villasol for the last 6 years

Villasol is walking distance to restaurants, bars, and shops.
Also 15 minutes walk to Levante beach /promenade This is the nearest site to the Town and is well run and is peaceful for anybody who wants it quiet.

No dogs are allowed on the site.

The Campsite has been operating some 23years. All the toilet blocks have being refurbished and looking good and are always very clean. There is a self-service laundrette and a mini market on site ( freshly baked bread every morning) and the prices are excellent

Reception,bar/ restaurant and shop staff all speak pretty good English

Kind regards,
Leo

Hello
Thank you for your reply Leo.
Very helpful.
We just have a couple of questions:
Would we need to book a pitch over the Christmas period?
Would there be somewhere where we would be able to have a Christmas dinner?
We have emailed Villasol but have not yet received a reply.
We are looking to arrive about the 21st December taking a slow drive down from our home in France, have you any suggestion for a site to stopover in Spain?
We look forward to your reply.
Might even see you there!!!!!
Steve & Jan

Hi Steve & Jan,

you don't need to book,

lots of places to have xmas dinner( afternoon or evening.
We spend the summer in Normandy and with our caravan stored in Benidorm we drive from here (7 hours)to just short of Pamplona, stay overnight in a small hotel and 7 hours drive to Benidorm next day. Whereabouts in France will you be leaving from?

My parents go every year and stay on Camping Villasol from November - April, and they love it, you have the heated pools, spotless showers & toilets and the outdoor market a few mins walk away.

You can be in the centre of Benidorm in a good 10min walk, and you have other bars & restaurants on the Rincon De Loix area again only a few mins walk away.

They never book and just turn up and never had any problems, the only thing you need to keep an eye on is the busy road outside the campsite, so if you;re walking or cycling just be careful.

Load of places for xmas dinner, just go and enjoy yourselves.

HI thanks for the replies. This is a first for us as we haven't had our camper van very long.
We intend to drive down to carcassone and stay there one night, then probably Tarrogona then onto Benidorm.
We live 2 hours north of Bordeaux .
We are just off now for the weekend in the camper van.
If anyone has suggestions for a campsite open in winter near Tarragona please let us know.
Many thanks
Jan & Steve

Vilanova Park is a good site, located at Vilanova i la Geltru approx 50 kilometres north of Tarragona. The site is also ideal for visiting Barcelona.
