We have just spent a lovely week near Soussions, which was rather ruined last night by the terrible thunder storms and hail the size of golf balls, which has cause a lot of damage to our car and caravan. I just wondered if anyone else was in the area and had been effected?

The whole central stripe of France from Calais to Toulouse is under a severe weather warning for this evening for thunderstorms and hail. They are very localised but when they hit they hit hard, but if they miss you one day they normally catch you the day after.
One storm today dislodged a church bell from a belfry which fell through the roof of an old lady next door!!
They should disappear by Monday but reappear next Friday & Saturday.

We've had rain overnight in the dordogne and the temps have dropped to a more pleasant 28c but weather still good, abit more cloud last few days but nothing to shout about. Woke up to the sun shining again today.

We've seen more thunderstorms since arriving in France on 21st than my son has seen in his lifetime!

Friday morning we departed the Lot (Cahors area) after two balmy weeks ... arrived at sister in law's house (for a wedding), just north of Angouleme ... that night horrendous storm ... lightning, gale force winds, heavy rain, sheeting horizontally ... chaos in the morning ... no electricity, no water ... catering problems ... three generators trying to deal with fridges and coolers ... washing and bathing in the nearest local stream ... lying horizontal on a small bridge with a little saucepan, scooping water and washing hair ... then stripping off for a bath at the ford ... when a local farmer comes along in his Jeep! Great for the Entente Cordial!
The power and water returned as the wedding started!
A lot of damaged sunflower crops (all flattened), trees stripped and downed ... electric and telephone poles down ... an exciting three days ... now down at Navarrenx ... weather hot and sunny again.
Hmmm really not keen on thunderstorms at the best of times. Really not liking the look of the storms forecast for our trip. Had one last year but this year looks ++
