I would be more surprised if your mondeo wasn't over the limit than if it is as is similiar to our Mazda 6. However it does vary from car to car but it's the "GTW" gross train weight you need to know, if it's 3500kg or more then it's the slower limits. But frustrating for us as with our trailer tent we're well under the 3500kg mark but that's now irrelevant, the fact we're towing and our car is capable of a total over 3500kg is the relevant bit. Has added 50mins driving plus prob another stop on to what was already going to be our longest ever journey will just have to take it steady and pack lots of snacks for the kids.....

Thanks grifterman, looks like everyone heads for Du Letty for their first trip abroad lol.
When will you be there, there's quiet a few people off her heading to Du Letty this summer, why not add your dates to the link below?
Regarding speed limits, has your satnav got a bit that tells you what speed you're doing and what the limit is? Very handy when you're not sure what speed you're supposed to be doing.
Don't forget your paper and photo parts of your driving license just in case. Your vehicle reg docs and insurance certificate too. If you wear glasses put a spare pair in the glove box.

Not sure about the sat nav as only just bought it, I'm sure it does though, as for spare glasses, I've just been for an eye test and been told my eyes have changed since my 1st eye test 2 years ago, so now have 2 pairs of glasses plus prescription sunglasses.

I was very anxious driving off the ferry 3 years ago, now I actually prefer driving on the right, and I think the roundabouts are safer, particularly in Holland.
My advice is...
1, use a sat nav, cos the road signs are crap
2, drive in daylight when possible
3, avoid rush hours

Thankyou for your advice, will my sat nav show speeds of roads even if the speed camera function is turned off?

If I have looked right our vin plate says 3980kg, does this mean I need to tow at a max of 90kph, surely not as I've just done a kph to mph conversion and it states that 90kph is equal to 55mph?

Whilst its going to take you a little longer than you were originally intending do have a fantastic time at le letty. Last year was our first time taking our own gear to France and we went to le letty. It's a fab campsite in a fantastic location. Enjoy!

There aren't any Autoroutes on the trip down to Benodet, its mostly dual carriageway Depending on your route. The Autoroute starts after Nantes which is further down.
To me it makes sense to think in kilometres rather than constantly having to convert to miles. I'm sure your speedo will show kph, switch the satnav to read speed and distance in kilometres and it'll make life a bit easier.
