Just back from the Costa Brava

Left Sant Pere Pescador on Friday travelled via Souillac and Neufchatel-En-Bray for 2 overnight stops and then onto Calais this Morning and the only place that we hit a traffic jam was M25 jct 9 to 12. The only reason we were stopped was because the variables were on but as soon as we were clear of them the speed was back to 60. so well done the Highways agency YOU DID IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Says it all about the British road network but nothing ever changes. Back in 1990 when we towed a trailer tent through Belgium, Luxembourg, France and then Switzerland the only place we had a traffic jam was on the M2 towards Dover. Fortunately we just made it in time for the ferry crossing to Zeebrugge.

I know how you feel, we came back from Sant Pere Pescador on Friday and we hit the dreaded M20 at 2am and they had closed off junction 4 - 2 so everything was diverted. We ended up going clockwise around the M25 to get home, but even that had roadworks on. I said to my husband i have just driven over 700 miles and not a single hold up and as soon as we get back on English soil the dreaded ROAD WORKS.

We left San Pere Pescador/L'Escala (Las Dunas) on Sunday 11th. The only problems encountered were the French service stations where only one station service both carriageways. Apart from that, we sailed through without any problems. The moment we left the Eurotunnel we had a problem, when a Lithuanian lorry wouldn't move over to let us in, even though he had the room.

The thought of driving 760 miles through France & Spain doesn't bother me at all, in fact I enjoy every minute of it. The 110 miles from my house in Bedfordshire to Folkstone & back, though, fills me with fear

It took us 3 1/2hrs to get from Dover to Toddington, and that was at 2am. Lovely drive all the way through France no problems at all, i even tackled Paris at 7.30pm on a Friday evening no problems, got on to English soil and it all went to pot.

Docked at Dover yesterday morning, took the m25 anticlockwise route to M1/M6. It took 4 hours from dover to reach the junction for the M1. Absolute disgrace. Spent 3 1/2 weeks in France driving over 2000 miles and never encountered anything like it (even through Paris)
