I wanted to ask people for any experiences or top sites they've stayed on in the Aquitane region of France.
We're planning a month long stay for Mid July-Mid August 2014 and are researching like crazy.
It seems that the deeper you look the more camp sites you can find which is of course great but with options comes a great problem of choosing.
We will be a family of 4 with two young boys(2 1/2 and what will be a 9mth old).
We both enjoy the quiet life and don't want to be on a mega complex but do need some basics for the nippers mainly a pool. I surf alot so would love to be able to jog to the ocean of a sunrise(Dreaming but know it's possible).
We last year stayed in Messange and whilst pretty wasn't really the vibe we're after. We like a quiet evening and value peace.
The only other real thing we do need is Wifi(on site at least) as i'll need to be semi-responsible for the real world. Last years site had wifi across the whole site and whilst it would be lovely isn't essential at this level.
So basically really family friendly where staying a month wouldn't get tedious not that it could...
Would be great to hear some real thoughts and experiences.
Had considered Hendaye for it's proximity to Spain? Anyone know it well?
Thanks in advance

Hi have a look at the seaside resort of Biscarosse plage and 2 campsites in particular Camping plage Sud and Le Vivier both are very close to the beach for that all important surf. Haven't stayed at either site but have had a look around both while we have been on holiday in that area and both seem to have the things you need. There is also a grat lake nearby which would be ideal for the children as is warm and shallow. Lots of lovely cycle paths so wouldn't have to use the car all the time. We have stayed in Biscarosse lots but normally at La Rive which probably would be too big for your needs and you would need to use the car to surf. hope this helps. Very jealous of you having a month 3 weeks is the longest we have managed!
Contis Plage area - inland towns of St Julien en Born and Lit et Mixe. Also beach of Lespacier (Bias is the nearest inland town) and Cap de L'homy are all great places.
Contis Plage is very chilled out even in the height of summer. A handful of restaurants and it all about the beach/surf vibe.
There is an aries at Contis or a large campsite owned by Yelloh. The nearby area has a lot of campsites such as in Lit et Mixe and St Julien.
This is the second post I have recommended this area now must stop or else it will get too crowded and ruin my holidays!!!!!!
Has anyone got any experiences of staying in Hendaye? It's looking like it could possibly be a front runner.
We are also very keen on the look of Col D'Ibardin.
Hendaye looks to have a nice balance of something to do in regards of wandering off into a town with the beach, surf, pool etc.
Would be good to hear from people who have been.
Hendaye is nice and Spain is a short drive/walk/boat trip away. The surf isn't that good as it usually gets sheltered from the swell but you can still surf smaller waves.
There is a coastal path running to the north towards Saint Jean de Luz and then on to Bidart: http://www.terreetcotebasques.com/sites/tcb/files/sentier-du-littoral2-2.pdf
------------- Biarritz Airport Transfers - airport transfers to the whole Aquitaine region and northern Spain.
