Hi we have decided on Provence next year after initially planning the Atlantic coast. Can anyone please advise approx travelling time to Frejus from Roscoff towing a twin axle? We are calling in to the Verdon gorge on route for a few days. Some great overnight stop off points would be good if anyone can reccommend from North to South and even a suggested route? I have estimated that we will need 2 overnight stops arriving on day 3. But I'm sure that its worth it!!! Thanks

We normally route plan on the basis that we average 50mph on motorways / dual car'ways and 40mph on normal roads; though with normal roads if it includes lots of villages / small towns the average can drop to 35mph.

So I'm sure you could do it with 2 o/n stops; which might also allow you to do some route planning to avoid paying too much in tolls.

It's about 900 miles from Roscoff to Frejus - but as you live in Newport Gwent, would you not go from Portsmouth rather than Plymouth?

We are siting our van hopefully next year in the South West in order to explore Devon thats why we opted for Plymouth. As you say the Portsmouth/Caen route would be the preferred option. Thanks for your help. Just discovered Mitchellin, its amazing it even calculates fuel & toll cost. Mind you our 3lt shogun is not the most economical way of travelling this distance! Cheers Jo
