We have just come back from 2 1/2 weeks at Camping Aquarius on the Costa Brava, in Northern Spain; This is our fifth year at the site. We had a really easy drive down, which we completed comfortably in one day (I will post details on a separate message). For the first week the weather was really hot - considerably warmer than previous years. for 5 days in a row the max day time temperature was around 38 degrees. As the site is right on the beach, this was not a problem as the sea temperature was lovely, so lots of time was spent on the beach. However, not so good for sight seeing as it was too hot. Luckily the temperature at night was far better, and we had no problem sleeping in the tent. The second week was back to normal temperatures, around 32 degrees in the day. A couple of nights were actually quite cool. The last couple of days, the temperatures were decidedly chilly, only getting up to 27 degrees - perfect for sight seeing. We also had more rain this year, it rained on 1 morning and 2 afternoons - including a huge thunderstorm the afternoon before we left - made packing a little tricky as we had to dry stuff out on our departure day Aquarius is becoming more an more popular, there is very little availability for 2014. When we arived in early August, there were very few Brits on the site, however, in later August lots more British families arrived. I suspect that the Germans are more organised and willing to book 18+ months in advance, so there is no space for British campers from mid July to Mid August Aquarius remains fantastically well presented; the electrics have been upgraded and there has been some refurbishment of shower blocks. The site has also been extended by a couple of rows into the neighbouring field, these pitches have no shade and no hedges separating pitches. Probably due to the extension of the site, there were queues for the showers, particularly the family shower block, where there was a queue at most times of the day and evening The clamp down on dogs on the beach is really working - last year, there were too many people flouting the rules and taking dogs onto the beach, this year, there were almost no dogs on the beach We made a few more trips this year. I really recommend a visit to the lake at Banyoles, crystal clear warm waters, makes a pleasant change from the sea and there is a lovely walk round the lake
