Hi All,
I am a Petty Officer with the Sea Cadet Corps and we are planning a trip to Normandy next year to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landings.
We will be taking around 18 Cadets (aged 13-17) and 8 adults.
We are planning to camp in Arromanches municipal site, we have stayed there before and found it very central.
Has anybody arranged this sort of trip? I am struggling to book the LD Lines ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre. At first it said that the dates weren't available now the website says that they are full!!!
Help!!! I'm new to all of this and want to make it a fab trip for the Cadets!!

Hi,
We have taken children abroad before. My husband did used to be a secondary school teacher and has been to Normandy with a group of children.
The Sea Cadets have strict guidelines for us to adhere to, we have dealt with all of those aspects with regards to emergency provision of accommodation, quickest route to the hospital etc.
The part I need help with is booking the ferry as I seem to be getting nowhere with LD Lines.
One minute they say the dates aren't released, next day it's full!!!
P and O have said to make the booking with them through the freight department.
Basically, the rest of the trip is sorted, right down to itinerary and menus and white fleet hire from the MOD, booking the ferry is the stumbling block, despite the fact that I have done it many times for us as a family!!
