Hi all

We had a real issue trying to rbuy ice in the Loire area for our Coleman cool box. This happened before but wasn't an issue as we were only in the area a day or so. This year we spent 3 days in Loire and couldn't find ice anywhere in Tours or Amboise.

So - any dead certs on where we could buy ice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh and I will put up our trip summary on here when I get a quiet 5 minutes!!

We used to get ice in the freezer section of big supermarkets.

We looked in 2 L Eclerc's, 1 Giant, 2 Aldi and 1 other supermarket to no avail in the above mentioned towns.

No problem in other regions of France but the Loire has defeated us thus far!

I asked the lady at the fish counter in Intermarche. Got 4kg for €1. Completely surrounded the wine in the coolbox!

Did you think of asking the camp site whether they knew of anywhere, or the town Tourist Advice?

no we didn't but a good point for next time.

I should imagine they may have said 'try the local supermarket'! Ah well. The municipal at Amboise doesn't have ice freezing facilities or ice available. One site we went to - the municipal at Cajarc had a freezer for free use in the washing up blocks.
