In the planning stage of travelling to Spain in the darkest days of winter to escape the weather.
I know that the old N10 now A63 has tolls on some part of it now.
Has anyone been down the route since it became partially tolled and, if so, where do they start and end. I don't believe its the whole of the route only part of it. (otherwise ViaMichelin would have avoided the whole of it in an effort to keep out of the tolls).
On the same subject I note that there is, for a substantial part, a road running parallel to the dual carriageway numbered D10e or similar. Looking at it on Google maps it looks like a very respectable alternative to the toll road. Has anyone been down that route?

Yes, yes, yes.
If you look at Michelin route planner with and without tolls, you'll see the differences ... tolls for the route are about a tenner. Route with tolls Route avoiding tolls
If that doesn't work in the second link .... tick the avoid tolls box to see the route Post last edited on 11/09/2013 00:33:12
They haven't quite finished making it into the A63 so the full tolls aren't being paid yet. (I think they are at about 50% at the moment)
They will be finishing it this winter.
Then, starting in September, ASF are also starting a 5-year long project to make the motorway from Biarritz to the border at Biriatou 3 lanes wide. It will also run over the construction date so expect long delays.
