I am having a nightmare trying to find a campsite for next year for my family and brothers.

We have been going on holiday in France for probably the last 15 years,We have had a wonderfull time at every site, some ( Les Alicourts Loire) we have gone back to several times.

Each year everyone relies on me to pick a site and research it. This forum has always been great for reviews and advice.

This year i am really struggerling to decide on a campsite, my wife wants to try a different region so we are looking at -

Languedoc Roussillon

Rhone-Alpes

Provence - Cote D Azur

Aquitaine

I have spent a great deal of time looking at forums and reviews about sites but I cant deecide.

What im looking for in a site is -

100m2 pitches min.

4-5 star rating.

On site entertainment at night with bars/restaurants.

Good mix of nationalities.

Enough to keep 6 boys ages 13 - 17 entertained in the day, things like- Swimming,sailing boats, fishing, bike routes.beaches. places for teenagers to hang out

A lake or beach on or next to the site.

Not stupidly busy roads, grid locked most of the day.

Good weather - temp wise at least Mid to high 20s

My main requirements though are large pitches with a good lake, river or sea.

All the boys are very sporty and need a lot to wear them out.

Les Alicourts has everything we need, so a site similar to that is what we are looking at.

The regions I have mentioned we have not really explored, but I would be happy to listen to any suggestions about other regions..

But below the Loire region Please.

Sites the last few years
Les Alicourts-Loire
La Rive - Biscarrosse
L'Ardéchois - Southern Ardèche
Camping la Forêt-St Jean Plage

What about Millau? (Tarn area), we loved it there, stayed at Les Rivages on the Dourbie which joins the Tarn nearby. We were there in mid season, but I think it has entertainment in high season. Has a bar, restaurant, take away, swiiming pool. You could go tandem hang gliding nearby (they land in the field opposite the site). It's not too far from the Mediterranean to go there for a day.

There are plenty of sites there to choose from, near enough to walk into the town, roads are ok, good access from the autoroute.

Vallon Pont d arc, camping LArdechois or Soleil plage in the Dordogne would be ideal sites for your family if you are prepared to pay about 50 euros a night. J x

Camping Interlude on the Ile de Re might fit the bill with its direct beach access. Doesn't really have on site entertainment in the evening but the bar and restaurant are good.

They have some very big pitches - "residential" and "grand espace" will take big outfits comfortably.

Island is the sunniest part of France apart from the Med.
