Something to consider for your 2014 holiday plans and yes it is a nice country, seen a lot of it and city; 12 visits in 10 years (without the caravan) but when I retire then yes I will take the van for a longer stay.
Campsite on the link within a good half hours walk over the bridge to Riga Castle and Old Riga (the photo) http://www.rigacamping.lv/
Another good site near Jurmala about 15 miles from Riga on some fantastic beaches and within easy reach into the city by train. http://www.nemo.lv/
Lonely Planet has named Rīga to be the fourth TOP city to visit in 2014! So, there, no more reasons to postpone your trip to Latvia!
Beaten only by Paris, Trinidad and Cape Town, Rīga in the words of the Lonely Planet’s editors is “reclaiming its rightful title as the cosmopolitan cornerstone of the Baltic”.
There's a country I'd love to visit. We went to Tallinn on our honeymoon, back in 1995 (a year after I'd visited it with some friends on a weekend break from Moscow). Sadly, I suspect the distance might be too great at the moment.
------------- Looking for Danish caravan site ideas for 2014
We went to Riga this year as a stop on a Scandinavia & Baltic States Tour that lasted just on 3 months, towing the 'Tin Tent' for just over 7,000 Miles.
Used Riga City Camp GPS 56.956306 N 24.078389 E
It's next to the Exhibition Hall with around a 30 minute walk into the city which was well worth the effort of getting there.
Campsite was quite basic and you could opt to pay for and have EHU or do without if you were self sufficient.
Showers were a few minutes walk off towards the Exhibition Hall but not a problem.
We also stayed in Tallin at Pirita Harbour Caravan Camping. GPS: 59.461716 N 24.818378 E
Not far from the Ferry as we came over from Finland.
Local Bus into the City from just outside the Campsite.
There is a campsite that is closer but the facilities and atmosphere is not as good while prices are considerably more expensive!
Personally I was more impressed with Tallin as I think it has more impressive architecture, but that is a personal opinion, while both are worth including in any itinerary.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
