We are planning our touring trip around Italy with our Equinox 450 tent next year, from late August until sometime in October, depending on weather etc. We wondered if anyone has any suggestions, recommendations regarding route from Calais to the area around Bolzano and the Dolomites, and any campsites please? We enjoy hiking and cycling and the area looks fascinating.

We've camped here, good site, and very friendly. Not far from Bolzano.
We'd gone via the lakes and then back up through Austria, Lake Constance, Heidelburg, the Moselle and Calais ... touring and taking our time ... so probably not as direct a route as you would like.
The Dolomites were fabulous.

Thanks, Kelper,the lakes route and that campsite looks a nice option which we will look at more closely. I have also since found a few other useful threads and blogs from previous travellers. Have plenty of time to plan in more detail and always find this site so helpful! Thanks again.
