Has anyone been to dunirell in october, particularly the half term holidays?
Was just wondering what it's like at that time of year. We have been in spring and summer but never as late as october?

We're not doing our usual may week next year, but are thinking of october, and doing four or five nights instead of seven.
TIA

Yes. Horrid.

We went during October half term just gone and it was very busy. There were large gangs of teens haring around on go-carts at all times and the facilities were looking very tired. There were also hordes of school parties in the theme park and water park, and it was all a bit tatty and looking like it needed a spruce up. The touring pitches were bare earth/mud.

We were incredibly lucky with the weather as we went the first week of Half Term (when it was mainly Scots and Northerners onsite from the UK)but it was still very cold out of the sun and the wind was fierce and biting. And Katwijk beach is completely closed, which was a disappointment.

The last time we went to Duinrell we said we wouldn't return, this time we mean it. We much prefer other sites and even with the facilities, it's not going to entice us again, I'm afraid. It just seems to attract the wrong sort of people of all nationalities.

We did five days, and were glad to leave.

We returned from here a couple of days ago. Our half term was a week later than Holland and some of the UK. We thought is wouldn't be our cup of tea and booked it for the benefit of the children. Queues were reasonably short and we were surprised by how mild the weather was. Although the park was hit by the recent storm which understandably closed some of the rides for a day. We just went to the water park if it was a raining. The children went on the flumes and I read my kindle – so all good! The weather didn’t stop us using the theme park for an hour or two each day. As we were using the Hull to Rotterdam crossing it worked out better value to book a mobile home with a tour operator as the crossing was heavily discounted. It was cheaper than taking our own kit and booking the crossing separately.

There was an area being let out to touring caravans that had been well used over the summer so had bare patches of grass which is only to be expected. The pitches seemed to drain well and were not water logged by the rain from the storm.

We did take a little TV and Freeview box on which we had recorded plenty to watch whilst we rested in the evening, as it got dark relatively early in comparison to summer camping. We did a bit of sight-seeing and a trip to Amsterdam. We felt well rested upon our return despite having absolute dreadful crossings; force 8 on the way and force 9 on the way back. I can only describe it as similar to driving a car repeatedly over a humpbacked bridge at speed followed by bang, crash, whoosh and the odd creek of metal- far more terrifying than any of the rides on the theme park! I had white knuckles from gripping the edge of my duvet in fear. I can recommend Boots travel sickness tablets though! Although it did take 24 hours afterwards for us to stop feeling like we were still bobbing up and down.

I would strongly advise you to check whether they have school parties camping at this time. We were there in June and the whole sorry tale is in my review. They told me I should have come in high season as school parties use the site in low season. They eventually offered me a 40% discount for next year but I don't think I'll be taking them up on it!!

Nice site shame about the people that visit.one of my sons was spat on another pushed under the water in the pool area.Real shame because we all loved the insanely fast slides and cool coasters.

Ninja. I agree with you it is a shame, but having said that we have been three times now, so might be time for a change!
I'm keen to explore more of south Holland, anyway..

I'm not sure what type of site you are looking for but we stayed at Ter Spegelt at Eersel. Just between Eindhoven and the Belgian border. Great site for families. We went in June using ACSI card. £118 for the week for two of us and a trailer tent, including electric. We were so impressed we intend to return next year.

I've been to duinrell 6 times over as many years. 5 of them have been October half term and this year we went at easter.

I've never had any issues. We always stay in a static as in low season it's not worth taking your own van. At easter we paid £260 for a static for the week.

The theme park is really empty during October. Hardly any waiting for the rides and everything is open. I love the fact we can go on the rides for an hour or two, pop back to the van for lunch then head back into the park. Theme parks in the UK seem to just be so tiring as you are on the go all day.

The ents team arrange activities for Halloween and there is stuff to do every evening.

The pool can get very busy especially if it's raining. You need to remember it's open for 12hrs a day so try to go mid day or in the evening when it's less busy.

Well, we are going back again despite saying that we probably wouldn't!
Got a very cheap sun holiday deal.
Going for four nights in the october half term. Not sure how we're getting there, either hawich to hook of holland paid with tesco vouchers, or dover to calais.
