Hi, We are planing to go to Germany in June 2014, could anyone tell me what dates the German holiday is.
I have been told you just can't turn up at campsites.
We tend to us the Acsi card or Alan Rogers vouchers.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Hi Artic,
We don't have holiday dates like the uk's block holiday. Every county in Germany is on a rotation system, so one year you would have an early summer holiday and the next year it might be late. This was decided back in the early 50's so everyone had a chance of a hot summer holiday or a later cheaper holiday. The school holidays for all the 16 county's in 2013 started on the 12.06 and ended on the 07.09. I cant tell you when the summer holidays are next year as my holiday calender only goes to 2013, but you can safely say that it wont be far off of 2013, and you would never meet all the Germans at any one time on holiday. I hope this helps you. Have a nice, safe trip to Germany.
Hi all,
Have found a German school holidays calender in English for you. German Holidays-info
All you have to do is to find out where you would be staying and ask Google which "Bundesland" your destination is. 'The town Rüdesheim am Rhein is in Hessen. Just across the river is Bingen am Rhein, which is in another county "Rheinland-Pfalz".

Don't forget that Ascension Day is also a public holiday. It's on the Thursday 10 days before Whitsun Monday, so will be on the 29th of May. Some people will book the whole lot as a holiday, but probably not that many that the site will be full.
We experienced that in France many years ago when we actually arrived on Ascension Day on a site in the south; traffic had been bad as well and the site was very busy, although we did manage to get a pitch, just!
